I&#039;ve had a few press releases (2 exactly) denied for the same reason. I beg to differ on one point though and would now use this as an example to argue the point. 

PRNewswire one of the biggest wire services, accepted this press release from American Airlines. Notice that it is written in first person (you, yours). I love press releases that give tips like this one does - because just about any business can do this.

In my book I list several ways to distribute your press release and news online. The traditional wire services cost a lot (min. $500 a press release) but I give lots of options for smaller businesses. I just suggest paying even if it one of the $49 services it&#039;s usually worth it in terms of extra distribution you get.
