Jeremy Schoemaker (ShoeMoney) talks about how he got started in internet marketing. (This guy made $7K in one blog post!) Check out the exclusive interview:
Where did you start?
- Created a mobile phone site to get format for phones, upload pictures, share pictures, etc. Then ring tones, then Google AdSense (did $130K in one month with AdSense), then affiliate marketing, then Pay Per Click, then writing about his own experience, then a marketing company.
How long did this all take you?
15 years of hard work – the last 5 years have been profitable. When I wasn’t trying to make money, it really started happening. It’s the little things you never thought would work that make money. You need to be passionate about it, do something you like…
Advice for get-rich-quick schemes?
If the people are trying to sell you the dream of being rich but they aren’t really doing anything, be skeptical. See this video about making money quickly online.
Write good content over time about something you know about, something you believe in. The Equation for Success:

Why Blog World Expo?
It’s AWESOME! What a great way to get to know companies and how you can work with them. Get a break on their product to test it out. Get the contact information, meet people, get their card so you can follow up with them. It’s inexpensive, phenominal content and speakers, the people you meet at conferences that you talk with are easier to remember.
Why Google Sucks?
Did he really say “Google Sucks!”? It’s all about writing for readers, not writing for Google. Too many people just put content on their site to make money and not provide good, quality content.
Google doesn’t actually suck, it’s that people write for Google and not for quality content – WRITE FOR READERS! Just keep in mind QUALITY CONTENT! “Google saved my life…” If it takes saying “Google Sucks” to get people to realize they need to write good stuff, I’ll say Google Sucks to make a point!

Hey Nate,
Great interview. I had a chance to meet Jeremy at Elite Retreat and he’s definitely a guy who knows his stuff and loves to share his experiences. I think he’s a good role model to follow in this industry.
Btw, the video looks a bit stretched sideways.

Yeah, Jeremy was a fun interview. Next time I go, I’ll make sure to take a video camera too – I was lucky he had a guy there doing recordings because my audio pretty much sucked with all the background noise.

Excellent interview with Jeremy. I’m a big fan of shoemoney. I really agree that success takes a lot of hard work. There really are no short cuts. I so agree about the google ads looking “cluttery” on a nice blog. Never been a big fan of that either. Thanks a lot for posting this!

For sure, people that are looking for a “get-rich-quick” walk in the park should probably look in a different industry. Especially at first, running an online business can take some dedication and commitment!

What a cool guy! Again, I am so jealous that you went to BlogWorld! You talk about it and he talked about how success isn’t about some secret strategy. His example of the hard work his wife in becoming an anesthesiologist is so obvious but so true. Really it comes down to where you want to put in your work, in med school or in internet sites. For me, I couldn’t do the med school because I have no interest. When it comes to the internet and blogging, I love and I would (and really still am) do it for free!
